About Runbooky
We're on a mission to eliminate the nightmare of searching for documentation during critical incidents.
Our Mission
Every DevOps engineer, SRE, and on-call developer knows the frustration: you're woken up at 3 AM by a critical alert, adrenaline pumping, and you need to find the right runbook immediately. But your documentation is scattered across Notion, GitHub, Confluence, and countless other tools.
Every minute you spend searching is a minute of downtime. At an average cost of $9,000 per minute, this isn't just frustrating—it's expensive. It leads to engineer burnout, creates single points of failure through "tribal knowledge," and ultimately impacts your customers.
We built Runbooky to solve this problem once and for all. Our hybrid approach respects your existing workflows by indexing documentation where it already lives, while providing a superior native editor for new runbooks. No painful migration required—just better, faster search when you need it most.
Our Values
What guides us in building this product
Speed First
During an incident, every second counts. We optimize for speed above all else—fast search, fast results, fast resolution.
Respect Workflows
We don't force you to migrate. Index your existing documentation immediately and gradually adopt our native editor.
Built for Engineers
We're engineers building for engineers. We understand the pain points and design solutions that actually work.
Why We Built This
After countless 3 AM wake-up calls and watching engineers frantically search through multiple wikis during critical incidents, we realized this problem wasn't going away on its own. The tools that caused the fragmentation—Notion, Confluence, GitHub—are excellent at what they do, but they weren't designed for the high-stress, time-critical nature of incident response.
We saw engineers spending 5, 10, sometimes 15 minutes searching for a runbook that should have taken 10 seconds to find. We saw the burnout, the stress, the reliance on "that one person who knows everything." We knew there had to be a better way.
So we built it. Runbooky is the tool we wish we had during those 3 AM incidents. It's purpose-built for operational knowledge, optimized for speed, and designed to respect the workflows you already have.
We're Not Alone in Feeling This Pain
Engineers across the industry are asking for this solution
"I'm thinking something like a semantic search across Confluence, Gitlab, and Slack channels. Anybody know of something that can do this?"— DevOps Engineer, Reddit
"In an ideal world, we'd have a single source of truth that was easily accessible to both engineers and non-engineers... that could be queried with a single search."— Senior Developer, Reddit
